Next Media brings animation to the news

Animated video (screenshot):

According to DIGITAL JOURNAL. (KJ Mullins, 2010). Next Media Animation (NMA) is an animation news stories which created by Creative Director Mark Simon. For example, when Tiger Woods had a car accident at Florida, NMA had created the news into animation and put this on YouTube. There are almost three million views on the YouTube, so this strategy makes the company looking to expend in Europe and North America.

Television in Hong Kong denies the service, so they try to put it after the news. "News comes after the fact, the animation process helps fill in the blanks for the audience," Simon said (KJ Mullins, 2010). “NMA is taking news stories and animating them for their readers, adding a new way of capturing that audience” (KJ Mullins, 2010), but the problem is that the process of making the animation news has cost a lot of money, each minute of animated material costs $3,000, so this service would not be used in many media operations. They usually use animation news in the crime and accident news to make the audience understood more about the news.

In my opinion, if we use animation with the news report as same as Next Media Animation service, this will be useful in the news business because animation can create a fake situation to describe the complicate news. People will understand more about the news if we used animation as video news to show some evidence. Nowadays, there are many news which hard to find the video to support the things that was happened such as accident and crime as it said above, so animation will be a good part of their alternative way.

This article has some interesting detail about the animation which gives us a lot of benefits. In this article, the writers try to show the benefit of animation and how it uses in the news company, so I might use this article in my term paper. I might put some detail into the benefit section in my term paper.

Megamind

Megamind movie is making up in the difference way from the others. In this movie they try to “build the ultimate super villain and at the same time make us care for him” (Desowitz, 2010).

According to ANIMATION WORLD NETWORK (Desowitz, 2010). There are two main challenges in this film. Firstly, how to make Both Metro Man and Tighten become unique. Second is how to present an interesting movie. So, they made the reference to people by used the slow frames and they also have to do some experience about how to punch somebody, because they want all the movement look more realistic and not just like the cartoon.

Moreover, the personality of the two main characters is also interesting. The first character is a Metro Man, the person who knows inherently how much energy he can use. Secondly, Tighten, he has the same body, rig and muscle system as the Metro man, but he is gangly and clumsy and never gets the hang of using finesse like Metro Man.

The animators of this movie also focus on the muscle of the cartoon characters because this will be a good part which makes the superhero character to appear their powerful and the huge of energy. In addition, the animators are used the new rendering technique to develop the Metro City by “divided neighborhoods into streets and blocks that were constantly being resized. We looked at a lot of cities and created different sizes, shapes and styles. We pulled people from different departments for this team of half a dozen. We tested the surfacing and lighting and emphasized the level of detail, keeping it in the foreground and losing it in the background” (Desowitz, 2010).

In my opinion, this movie is very interesting because of the good graphic and the great plot which make the entire story become more relate and not boring. The Megamind is focusing on the super villain, which I never watch on any movie before. So this point might be attractive to the audiences. Moreover, in this movie, they also concentrate on every detail of the characters and the atmosphere as it said above. They are concentrating on even the muscle to make the characters look more realistic, and this will make the audience get more fun and enjoy with the film.

This article is quite interesting, but I am not used it in my term paper because the idea on this article is not relate to the detail that I want to write about.

This article is have a shot detail about the income of the Toy Story film, but this will become a part of my attention grabber in introduction because I think all the number that it has been shown on the top can attract people attention, and want to read more about my article.

Most Money Making Career in 3D Animation

Picture retrieve from (“MySpace,” n.d.)

Nowadays, there are many areas and opportunities that can work with animation 3D. The most making money in animation 3D is architecture and building design. These two careers get a high income.

According to (“3D Design - What Is The Most Money Making Career In 3D Animation In The World Today?,” 2010). Animations are moving forward from ceil animation to stop animation then 2D and become 3D.

  • Ceil animation is drawing the character in a different set of series on flip paper.
  • Stop animation has only one character on each page which can be reused.
  • 2D mean display several pictures in a rapid movement to create the illusion of movement.
  • 3D means three-dimensional, you can see the width, long and high.

The famous of animation style is 3D. According to (“3D Design - What Is The Most Money Making Career In 3D Animation In The World Today?,” 2010). 3D becomes more popular in many careers, because they used the technology (computer) to work with, and it can used in many career such as cartoon, game, television, architecture and theater. Nowadays, 3D is developing with some technologies such as 3D television.

According to (“3D Design - What Is The Most Money Making Career In 3D Animation In The World Today?,” 2010). 3D include of training online and working in character design, film and TV. In addition, more experiences, skill and talents are the gateway for you to get a good job. Finally, you have to find the best place in order to obtain the best opportunities in market place.

In my opinion, 3D is a kind of technology which has several benefits for our society because it can relate with many career according to the passage above. In addition, animation can create the model that people never see before, and it can use in some program to show and predict the effect from the global warming in the future.

I will use this passage in my term paper because the passage above is talking about the progressive way of animation. It shows us how the animation is developed. Moreover, it shows about the career that animation can relate too, so I think this article has a lot of benefit if I use in my term paper.

Taking Fight with Guardians

According to Animation World Network (Desowitz, 2010). Taking Fight with Guardians, this movie used animal logic as a part of project to help them become successful. In this movie, they are talking about owls overcoming fascism to prevent their home, families and heritage. Making cartoon movie about owls and their bucolic world are a lot more complex, but they still like to do in this way. Eric Leighton said that “He like the idea that getting away from the animation mainstream”

The animators of this film try to make the owls become a realistic, because if it just likes a cartoon, the consumer will not buy it at all. Thus, they have to learn toward the naturalistic side of the owl. They have to understand a lot more about the owls, for instance, how they fly, blanching and walking, and combine those things with their character to make it look more realistic. This method is moved a little toward of traditional animation techniques. Moreover, in this movie, they did not use the wing, hand or fingers because those thing don’t have muscles and it cannot move by itself. This problem makes more works for animators to think more creatively about how to convey the emotion, so they were given more time to study the owl footage and anatomy.

The next important thing is about feather system. During this step, everything is importance to make the character look more realistic. Include of many step.

1. Right up front
2. The grooming tool
3. Rendering
4. Collision
5. Feather effect
6. Winged on feathers
7. Snow on feather
8. Collisions between feathers on individual and different character.

The last method is to combination all the things together
1. Intersect
2. Renders
3. Context

This movie still used Softimage and Maya program to create a lot of new proprietary grooming and shading of the animal logic. They did dynamic simulations for wind effect and the local feathers for example snow rain clouds and fire. They also create the beautiful large eyes which keep the deep refraction to the people who watch it.

In my opinion, this movie is very interesting because this movie show the owls’ life style though the cartoon and it also looks like the lifelike. Thus, this movie can convinced the child then to care about the owls and learn the owls’ lifestyle for instance how they live, and how they find the food, so this movie is very benefit for children. Moreover, they also used many techniques through the movie, so other animators can see and combine those new techniques to their animation film in the future.

This article might be helpful for my term paper because all the details are combining the technique of the film making for 3d animation, so I will used some data to support the idea in my term paper to show how 3d technique is differences from the 2d technique. In addition, the ways of film making are also differences.
